New advanced breast cancer research

New research published online in the journal, Oncogene, looks at how breast cancer spreads to other parts of the body. It suggests that the protein, tau, could have a role to play in this process.

Dr Caitlin Palframan, Policy Manager at Breakthrough Breast Cancer, says:
“We need to know much more about how breast cancer spreads to other parts of the body so we can find more effective treatments for women with advanced disease. This early stage research suggests the protein tau could play a key role in this process.

“We look forward to further research investigating whether this protein could be a useful target for new drug treatments.”
