Gift Aid
UK taxpayers - make your donation worth almost a third more without it costing you a penny.
You must pay an amount of Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax each tax year (6 April one year to 5 April the next) at least equal to the amount of tax we reclaim on your gifts for that tax year. More information about Gift Aid.
Your Gift Aid declaration
What is Gift Aid?
Gift Aid allows Breakthrough Breast Cancer to claim tax back from the Inland Revenue on all your donations. For every £1 you give, we will receive an extra 28p through Gift Aid, giving us a total amount of £1.28. It doesn’t cost you a penny - all you need to do is tick the box on the Gift Aid declaration form. The additional support will help to fund Breakthrough Breast Cancer’s vital work, making a difference to the lives of even more people affected by breast cancer.
Who is eligible for Gift Aid?
To qualify for Gift Aid you must be a UK taxpayer and pay an amount of Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax each tax year (6 April one year to 5 April the next) at least equal to the amount of tax we reclaim on your gifts for that tax year. Even if you don’t think you are a taxpayer you may be paying tax on one of the following:
- Your pension plan
- Savings, investments, stocks or shares
- Rental income
- Income for property sales.
Will I have to do any extra paperwork?
No. We deal with the Inland Revenue to reclaim the tax. Simply tick the Gift Aid box on the form to confirm you are a UK tax payer. That’s all you need to do.
Will I have to fill in a Gift Aid form each time I make a donation?
No, once you’ve ticked the box overleaf and returned the form to us, we will be able to claim the tax on any donations you’ve made in the past 6 years and all donations you make in the future, until you notify us otherwise.
I’ve already completed a Gift Aid form for another charity. Do I need to complete another one for Breakthrough Breast Cancer?
Yes. You have to complete a separate form for each charity you want to benefit from Gift Aid. You may complete as many Gift Aid forms as you wish provided the tax you pay will cover the combined tax claims.
