Where does my money go?
How the money raised by your Crocus Walk is helping us save lives.
Since December 1999 when the Breakthrough Breast Cancer Research Centre opened its doors we have celebrated significant breakthroughs, thanks in part to the money raised by Crocus Walkers.
- We’re helping patients get new treatments thanks to the launch of 8 clinical trials, started due to our discoveries
- We are identifying who is at risk of breast cancer
- We’ve launched a whole new direction in cancer drug development, now being used to treat patients in clinical trials
- We have identified 2 different ways that breast cancer treatments can fail, helping us keep breast cancer under control
- We are starting to understand the causes, thanks to the Breakthrough Generations Study
SO MUCH MORE TO DO
We plan to commit £30 million to fund our Research Centre over the next 5 years. But we need a further £3.5 million per year to realise the potential of our discoveries. Here's a snapshot of what we hope to achieve if we raise the funds required:
- Breast cancer will no longer be life-threatening for many patients
- People with breast cancer will live longer and healthier lives thanks to new and better targeted treatments
- We will find ways to prevent the return of breast cancer
- We will know who is at high risk of developing breast cancer, give them health advice or preventative treatments to prevent it, and change the future for thousands of women
The money you raise at your Crocus Walk is vital to ensure we keep on track to fulfil our vision.
