Breakthrough’s breast health promotion work
Early diagnosis saves lives – the earlier breast cancer is diagnosed the better the chances of beating it. This is why our health promotion work is so important.
Whether it’s through local pilot projects and partnerships or national campaigns we are raising awareness of the signs and symptoms of breast cancer and why it’s vital to be breast aware and attend breast screening appointments when invited.
Breakthrough’s ‘Touch. Look. Check’ breast awareness message is a fundamental part of all our health promotion work and has been developed with involvement from the women we are working to support.
And it’s not just the message. Every aspect of our health promotion work is informed by the women we are trying to reach with each individual project and health promotion campaign. By doing this we make sure that we are successfully raising awareness and encouraging women to act by going straight to their doctor if they notice any usual changes to their breasts and, if they are over 50, making sure they never miss a breast screening appointment.
