About

"Every one of us has a battle, a personal battle. Fear of flying. Loss of control. These mirror the fear of a cancer diagnosis. But our fears come and go. Now we’re rising up to make the fear of breast cancer go – for good."

Tina Korup, Breakthrough Booby Birds Founder

A force of inspiration

When Tina’s best friend Christine was diagnosed with breast cancer, Tina felt powerless to ease the feelings of fear, panic and lack of control her friend was experiencing.

Determined to stand in solidarity with Christine, Tina came up with an idea. She would not sit idly by, she would face her own fears, she would fly.

From one woman’s determination, a valiant corps of accomplished women united for a group parachute jump to take a collective stance against cancer and, Breakthrough Booby Birds was born.

Flying in the face of fear

Our ambitions are high. We’re asking each Breakthrough Booby Bird to raise £20,000 for their jump day this year to help fund vital breast cancer research at the Breakthrough Research Centre and the Breakthrough units in London, Manchester and Edinburgh.
