There are a number of motivations, the most obvious being a great desire to support Breakthrough Breast Cancer in their fabulous work. I have known a number of people who have both suffered and died from breast cancer, and the work that Breakthrough do and their dedication to achieve their vision of a future free of the fear of the disease is commendable. I am part of the Breakthrough Generations Study and am now honoured to be able to work with the team on this challenge to help increase the funds available to support their fabulous work.

As a total self-confessed workaholic I was recently asked what I did to relax. A little soul-searching revealed that I very rarely did! The next week I received an email from the team at Breakthrough asking me to consider taking part in the Breakthrough Booby Birds project and raise a minimum of £20,000. I thought "what better way to relax"…or at least do something other than work that was worthwhile and for a great cause. And here I am.

I am a "feet firmly on the ground" type person who thinks that jumping off a garden wall, let alone out of a plane, is fraught with danger. Insurance is always a good thing, as I have previously broken an arm falling off a hotel step and broken a finger standing at the side of a dry ski slope (without skis!). My commitment to achieve the skydive is not only to raise £20,000 but also to lose a large amount of weight before completing the skydive. It's a challenge on many fronts, but well worth it. And I promise I'll have insurance confirmed before the jump! Any sponsorship would be of great value to Breakthrough Breast Cancer, helping them to deliver on their vision.
